Featured Story
Stan Kroenke: Majority Owner of the Denver Nuggets
Stan Kroenke, an accomplished entrepreneur and sports magnate, is the majority owner of the Denver Nuggets. Born on July 29, 1947, in Columbia, Missouri, Kroenke built his fortune through various business ventures.
Kroenke's primary sources of wealth stem from his interests in real estate, sports, and media. He founded the Kroenke Group, a real estate development firm, and is the owner of Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE), a company with a vast portfolio of sports teams.
In 2000, Stan Kroenke acquired a 40% stake in the Denver Nuggets. Over time, he increased his ownership to become the majority owner, taking control of the team in 2010. Under Kroenke's stewardship, the Nuggets have experienced success and become a perennial playoff contender in the competitive Western Conference.
When Stan purchased the team the valuation was $202M. The Denver Nuggets are valued at approximately $1.93 billion.
Micky Arison: Majority Owner of the Miami Heat
Micky Arison, born on June 29, 1949, in Tel Aviv, Israel, is the majority owner of the Miami Heat. His path to sports ownership stems from a family legacy intertwined with the shipping industry. Arison's father founded Carnival Corporation, a leading cruise company, which Micky later became CEO of.
Arison's substantial wealth, derived from his successful tenure at Carnival Corporation, facilitated his purchase of the Miami Heat in 1995. His acquisition marked a turning point for the franchise, ushering in a new era of competitiveness and ultimately leading to the Heat's first NBA Championship in 2006.
Since acquiring the team, Arison has overseen a period of sustained success for the Miami Heat, including four NBA Championships and consistent playoff appearances. The Heat organization has become synonymous with excellence under his ownership.
When The Heat was purchased in 1988 they had a price tag of $32M. The Miami Heat were valued at around $3 billion!
